Introduction

The hard one! Every student looks forward to playing this song. They believe that they know it and that is easy to play. But producing a beautiful, singing legato on the piano is not easy and will be one of our major concerns, certainly throughout level one, if not our entire careers.

Things To Listen for:

  • A beautiful singing legato (smooth and connected) with full, beautiful tone.
  • Phrases that build and ebb.

Things To Watch for:

Practice Notes:

  • ManusDexter
    • Again, play many repeated notes with finger 1 on treble C.
    • Proceed as you did with the other Twinkles.
    • Remember to Listen, evaluate and praise.

  • M. S.
    • Do not start Left hand work until you have can play all of the Twinkles well with your Right hand.
    • Then, use the same procedure for the Left hand.
    • If you are right-handed, please practice the Left hand even more that you do the Right hand.
