Shortly before 10:00am, while Joy and I were relaxing in bed a medium sized bird of prey swooped through the bedroom-backyard, brushing number two bamboo tube and taking, I believe, a small bird, probably a sparrow. More details to follow.
Mountain Coyote (Canis latrans) About 9:30 this morning a rather aggressive individual was chasing our neighbor, Grover, a large wolfhound around the hillside. Although we hear them "singing" occasionally in the evening or early morning and find abundant droppings, this is our first sighting.
A mountain garter snake - Thamnophis elegans, elegans, fatally injured another goldfish after an attack witnessed by PegDart on 27 Sep 2003. Floyd, summoned by her yelling, was able to pin the snake (which dropped the fish) and remove it from the premises.
