Alert SF!

I noticed a couple of interesting public service Web sites this morning. If you live in San Francisco you may want to check out the AlertSF Notification System which can be configured to send emergency information to your phone or email address. Seems like a good idea to me, so I signed up for alerts in my work and home neighborhoods. Check it out!

Another site worth checking out is 72hours.org which is geared toward helping one plan and prepare to survive after a major hazard (earthquake, flood, disease, etc.) hits San Francisco. Consider this a backup in case you can't get to preparedness-central (a.k.a. Ben, Mary, and Sidney's house).

Old Folks Oversleep

Mom, who is a non-user generally, cannot believe Floyd didn't check the E-mail after the Thursday in Auburn Amtrak run. Stale news, he says to me, when I arrive with second coffee. And he didn't reply to I'VE GOT A JOB from Nate to all!! And Ma finds no notice on the front page!! So here goes...

A bit about Blackworm

"Over the last week, "Blackworm" infected more then 700,000 systems as measured using a counter web site used by the worm to track itself. This worm is different and more serious then other worms for a number of reasons. In particular, it will overwrite a user's files on February 3rd." -- isc.sans.org
