Judge Jones on Intelligent Design
"The overwhelming evidence at trial established that ID is a religious view, a mere re-labeling of creationism, and not a scientific theory." -- From Judge Jones' decision in Kitzmiller v. Dover.

ACLU's site, or read the

Pat Robertson on Intelligent Design
After eight school board members who suppoted 'intelligent design' lost re-election in Pennsylvania this week Pat Roberson had this to say to the city that didn't elect them:
"And don't wonder why He hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for His help because he might not be there." -- from CNN

Cardinal Poupard, head of the Vatican Pontifical Council for Culture has been quoted as stating:
"The fundamentalists want to give a scientific meaning to words that had no scientific aim," he said, and that the point of Genesis is that "the universe didn't make itself and had a creator."
"The faithful should heed modern science and to guard against religion crossing over to fundamentalism if it ignores scientific reasoning."

Cornell President on Intelligent Design
"Intelligent design is not valid as science, that is, it has no ability to develop new knowledge through hypothesis testing, modification of the original theory based on experimental results, and renewed testing through more refined experiments that yield still more refinements and insights."

Oh, a little accountability, at last
From an
Office of Special Counsel Press Release:
"WASHINGTON – Senior White House official I. Lewis Libby was indicted today on
obstruction of justice, false statement and perjury charges for allegedly lying about how and when in
2003 he learned and subsequently disclosed to reporters then-classified information concerning the
employment of Valerie Wilson by the Central Intelligence Agency. Libby was charged with one count
of obstruction of justice, two counts of perjury and two counts of making false statements in a five-count
indictment returned today by a federal grand jury as its term expired, announced Justice Department
Special Counsel Patrick J. Fitzgerald."
One may wish to read
Libby's Indictment for the details.

How Many Planets Are You?
I read the new bloggie message on nate's site. After seeing that if everyone in the world lived like nate they would need 4.1 planets, I wondered "what the heck is he talking about?" I set forth to
this site in hopes that it would give me the answers I needed.
The answer I got:
If everyone in the world lived like me we would need 3.4 Planets.
--
ParisaZolfaghari - 23 Aug 2005
Wow! Only 3.4 planets? I'd better start triming down my consumption if I'm going to compete with that.
--
NatePerryThistle - 27 Aug 2005
My footprint is either 7 or 9 acres depending on how I answer the population of the "place" I live question - so 1.5 to 2.1 planets for me.
--
FloydPerryThistle - 28 Aug 2005
I think it has a lot to do with me not having a car. I'm sure if I had a car I'd have another half a planet or more.

Latest Letter from Leanne Anderson

Leanne is a
PianoBasicsTeacher who is currently studying in Matsumoto, Japan. Her entertaining and informative letters have been languishing in the dim, dark recessess of the
Piano Web. Mayhaps they will see more visits here in the Family Web.
Update: Leanne has returned to the United States and is currently teaching in Pasco, WA. It was great to see her at the 10 Piano Concert! I wonder if there will be more letters chronicling her further adventures.

Yellow Alert!

UPDATE -- the ISC infocon alert level has returned to green. The
DNS cache poisoning has been mitigated and instructions for protecting ones DNS servers
are available.
--
NatePerryThistle - 08 Apr 2005
One may wish to force refresh their view of this page to make sure they're seeing the most recent graphic. That's Ctrl+F5 for most folks. Check out WebBrowser for more tips about using this site.
The ISC infocon alert level has been elevated to yellow, meaning "We are currently tracking a significant new threat. The impact is either unknown or expected to be minor to the infrastructure. However, local impact could be significant."
The reason is ongoing
DNS cache poisoning. Unsuspecting users can be spirited off to malicious servers instead of the domain they asked for. This hasn't affected everyone, and most users shouldn't be too alarmed, just raise your awareness level a little bit. Update your anti-virus, anti-spyware software, your operating system, etc. and stay tuned for further information.
Technical readers can stay up to date on our

Children Snubbed!
Saturday afternoon. Clinging to the phone, Nate and Kathia awaited word on dinner--a supposed pork loin roast.
The phone never rang.
They waited and they waited. However, no one called. Forgotten and unloved, Nate and Kathia stepped up and took
charge of their dinner. They braved the elements--and SPD--to fend for themselves. Hence:
Ribeye with mushrooms, onions, and bacon drenched in zinfandel tied together with melted triple cream bleu cheese
Luscious garlic mashed potatoes
Decadent kale (we had to try to make it sound good)
Grr!!

You know who you are...

And tonight I go to Kell's. Muahhahahaha (<--- evil laugh)
