Answer for Diego:

Diego, that's an interesting question.

I think the ChatterBox exists to be "a place where one could just stick a blurb in without regard for context, content, quality, layout, style, grammer, manners, er, well...", to quote me. One of my personal contributions that I think is a great example is the Search Engine Belt Buckle.

I would assert that the News Flashes and Flickers items might carry somewhat more weight than something entered here... but that's not always true. Also, an item in the ChatterBox doesn't have to be displayed on the front door (though most get put there for a little while). They are there as a way to lure you to this topic. -- NatePerryThistle - 19 Nov 2004

In my view the P-TWiki is still trying to figure out what it is and a lot of areas are still fuzzy and incomplete. In the beginning . . . (see The Rest of the Chatter for more)

. . . there were only a few users, a few pages and no cute little boxes to put stuff in (click on "Total page history" at the bottom of WebHome to get a sense of the evolution of the front page - 202 revisions as of 9:30 PST 20 Nov 2004) The first News Flash appeared 07 Jun '03 on the occurence of the BloodyPondMassacre. Flickers might be considered the first "chatter" items being of less import like the unusual August rains of 2003,which promted their appearance. By September '03 they had merged and remain to this day.

I often move things from the Flashes and Flickers area to the ChatterBox, either inside the INCLUDE variable, or here in the rest of the "chatter" when I get tired of seeing them or somthing new captures my attention.
