I upgraded to the latest version of the BlackListPlugin; an email was sent round warning of a new style of html attachment SPAM. Neat.

One of the benifits is that the new version has adds another check to try to prevent scripted registrations. Please let me know if anyone has trouble registering.

UpgradeLogThroughJan2006

I got the following, delightful, email today:

" Dear TWiki administrator:

The long awaited TWiki 4.0.0 Production Release aka DakarRelease? is available for download. This is a major release replacing TWiki version 04-Sep-2004.

Download the new release from: http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Codev/TWikiRelease04x00x00

CHANGES AND UPGRADE:

Major new features since TWiki 04-Sep-2004 release:

  • WYSIWYG editor (beta)
  • Revamped PatternSkin? with a modern look and lots of customization options
  • Much simpler install and configuration
  • Integrated session support
  • Webserver-independent login/logout
  • Security sandbox blocks all possible routes for remote command execution on the server
  • New editing model with conflict resolution allows freer collaboration, without fear of overwriting other people's changes
  • Multilingual UI: Chinese, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish
  • E-mail confirmations for registration to prevent spamming
  • Hierarchical sub-web (beta)
  • And many, many more enhancements

Many, many people worked on TWiki-4.0.0. A lot of changes have been done in the engine room to make the code maintainable and extensible. Most of the redesign and code refactoring work in the Dakar release was done by Crawford Currie.

The change history with contributors is at http://TWiki.org/cgi-bin/view/TWiki/TWikiHistory

To upgrade from the 04-Sep-2004 version follow the instructions in http://TWiki.org/cgi-bin/view/TWiki04/TWikiUpgradeGuide"

I like the new TWiki - so far a lot.

-- FloydPerryThistle - 08 Sep 2004

Do you miss the Google search box?

I think I could add it to to the footer -- just above the Copyright, perhaps?

Glad you like the new TWiki.

-- NatePerryThistle - 08 Sep 2004

People, FriendsAndFamily that is, might see it as something familiar in an alien landscape. I think that would be a good thing. I personally like the built in "highlight - right click - search the web" function available in [[http://www.mozilla.org/][Mozilla]]'s Firefox.

 Get Firefox

-- FloydPerryThistle - 09 Sep 2004

Intresting - FriendsAndFamily didn't link in the comment box and the Mozilla link didn't happen either but the html tags worked fine. smile

-- FloydPerryThistle - 09 Sep 2004

I added a Google search and an A9 search box to the footer. Google you know, A9 is an Amazon front end to Google's search results.

Search the Web! Remember that finding things on our site is best done in WebSearch.

-- NatePerryThistle - 19 Sep 2004

Why do I get a sign-in pompt when I arrive sometimges, like just now at MozillaBits?

-- FloydPerryThistle - 21 Sep 2004

That is intresting... isn't it. I suspect that you are the first visitor to that page since it's cache has expired (all RSS feeds are cached for 15 minutes on our site). Your request is generating those RSS listings, and there maybe something in there that triggers the login process.

That would be my guess, anyway. Not much of an answer, sorry. wink

-- NatePerryThistle - 21 Sep 2004

So, I've removed a couple of broken image calls in the RSS feeds and I think that has made the sign-in prompt problems go away on these feed pages.

You get that error when we try to display the header image for the feed, and the feed doesn't have an image defined.

Please let me know if you find an RSS feed causing this login request.

-- NatePerryThistle - 24 Sep 2004

Why don't the images render in the November calendar at WebHome?

-- FloydPerryThistle - 05 Oct 2004

Never mind, I fixed it - smile

-- FloydPerryThistle - 05 Oct 2004

So I've been thinking about your question of 05 Sep 2004 and I think it would be cool if we had a choice. Like div tag class="right" bkcolor="champagne" or color="2" with the colors shown on a page like SiteConstruction.

-- NatePerryThistle - 10 Dec 2004

I've applied patches to TWiki as recommend by http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Codev/UncoordinatedSecurityAlert23Feb2005.

Please let me know if you find something not working as expected.

Help! I get "The connection was refused by perry-thistle.net" when I go to https://www.perry-thistle.net/squirrelmail/src/login.php. Everything else seems to be working.

-- FloydPerryThistle - 04 Apr 2005

It just worked for me... would you try again?

-- NatePerryThistle - 04 Apr 2005

I want to plug firefox at IntriguingFamilyPortrait but having a problem. Would you check the edit please, Nate?

-- FloydPerryThistle - 12 Jul 2005

Did you fix it? I followed your button link to a successful download...

-- NatePerryThistle - 12 Jul 2005

No, I was after a different button - I left you a hidden comment:

"Nate - I'm not getting the complete source code for "80x15 White Button: 1" from http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q=affiliates/homepage. They all end: ...src="http://sfx-images.mozilla.o

Help?"

So really it's their problem, I guess. Let me re-request: would you please see if you can get the rest of the code for the "80x15 White Button: 1" (or maybe a smaller one)?

-- FloydPerryThistle - 13 Jul 2005

Any (easy) way to make the comment box smaller or proportional, especially in columns?

-- FloydPerryThistle - 19 Jul 2005

Use a comment box where you specify the number of "rows" and "columns." Like:

%COMMENT{type="above" rows="10" cols="25"}%

-- NatePerryThistle - 19 Jul 2005

I've installed the BlackListPlugin so that we can keep "black sheep" away from our P-TWiki.

If you get blocked accidently please feel free to contact me.

-- NatePerryThistle - 06 Oct 2005

Sounds good - what color do you suppose our newest sheep are?

-- FloydPerryThistle - 06 Oct 2005

Charcoal?
